Welcome – Bienvenidos

Robles

My mother Lydia was a Robles. My research began 18 years ago with what I knew about my 30 immediate family members.

Presently, we have documented 7,500 +/- ancestors and descendants of Francisco Robles and Rita Luna. AND 10,000 other Robles from different lines of research that share our DNA.

It was not only classic genealogy research which brought us all together. It was the wonderful, unexpected relationships that developed, the yearly reunions before COVID, and extensive communication between us thanks to texting, emails and social media. Very helpful because Robles live all over the world.

Researching became my passion and it has been a rewarding experience born out of my curiosity of, “who am I, where do I come from?” This website may help YOU break down your genealogy brick wall or fill in the gaps of locations & relationships pertaining to your Robles ancestors.

If you are a Robles consider this your website. Please become part of the ongoing research. No information is too small or too great to share. Who knows where it may lead?

Our common ancestors

Francisco & Rita Robles

We are their descendants

Meet Rita Luna. We do not know her mother’s maiden name. This hinders research. She was most likely born in the 1830’s in the State of Sonora, Mexico. Research has resulted in not one shred of evidence of her birth or baptism. And, unfortunately, no marriage information to Francisco Robles.

There is no photo of Francisco Robles who may have been born in the 1830’s or a decade or more earlier because it was common for the husband to be considerably older than his wife. Most likely he was born in Sonora, too. What has challenged me, perplexed me, is not a single document where he is mentioned has noted his second surname. There can be legit reasons for this but, again, this hinders research.

However, we do find them a married couple (Catholic Church baptismal records say their first child Andres was born of a legitimate (married) union) in 1860 in Ures, Sonora, Mexico. Eventually they had a large family of children: Andres, Plutarco, Leandro, Miguel, Francisco, Eulogia, Rafael, Guadalupe, Gertrudis, Luz & Gregoria. And there may be other children yet to be discovered.

Think we may not be your Robles Family? Think again!

If your ROBLES lived in Mexico within the past 300+ years, then we are most likely related. Distantly, perhaps, but very probably related.

Have you tested your DNA? If so, then you know you have thousands of people that share your DNA. And this can be frustrating, because there are so many DNA matches, but so very few that you KNOW, that you can identify how they fit into your family tree. Take hope. DNA does not lie.  We are constantly searching for our common ancestors.

Somos primos.

Viva Magazine

This is a family magazine.

It serves as our Blog. Issues will be published monthly. The Robles Scholarship page and a tutorial page, How to Search For Your Relative, will be included in each issue.. Other pages can contain what YOU would like to see. How about advertising our family who own a business or provide a certain service? Please send me your business card and I will include it in the magazine. Have a favorite family recipe? Then send it to me and I will share it. I can insert a video of you and your family hiking the Appalachians, for example. The sky is the limit.

This is a family magazine.

Our Ancestors would expect this magazine to be filled with Love, Kindness, Tolerance & Respect for each other. We will not disappoint them.
