One Picture

One picture is what it took for me to decide to pursue researching our ROBLES genealogy. I’d hit the proverbial genealogy brick wall of frustration not being able to identify more than two children of Francisco & Rita. It made sense to me that given the time era of the early to mid 1800’s they probably had more than 2 kids. That was the golden years of large, no huge families.

I was visiting cousin Gilberto Figueroa and his wife Tencha in Safford, Arizona when I expressed my frustration. Gilberto, known as Longo because he was well over 6 feet tall, excused himself and when he returned he handed me the picture above. He said, “here are two more of their children.” I was floored. Longo had just doubled my base of research. He knew their names, but not much else. But, it was just what I needed to encourage my search. When I tried to hand the picture back to Longo he said it was a gift to me for my research. Longo and Tencha both encouraged me to research our genealogy every time I spoke with them. Longo, I hope I’ve done you proud.

Eventually, I found a total of 11 children which is the basis for our 11 genealogy branches. Relatives have told me they have reason to believe there may be 14 children! Still searching. Front L-R Plutarco, Miguel, Standing L-R Gertrudis (Tula), Eulogia (Chata)
