203 On the 1920 Census Rafael was a married miner with 3 children who owned a home in Ruiz Canyon, Globe.

On the 1930 Census he was single; not a widow. So presumably he was divorced. He listed his occupation as a timberman in the asbestos mine industry.

He was also engaged creating a 2nd family with Carlota Robles.

206 Parish records from Santa Maria Magdalena, Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico noted she was born in San Miguel de Horcasita, Sonora, Mexico in 1872.

That's a 4 year difference from her baptism record.

207 Piedad's birth last name is RAGLAN; the daughter of Samuel Raglan; not Adolph Buttner.

There is no research that I have located that indicates that Piedad and her brothers Harvey and Morris were legally adopted by Adolph Buttner and Dolores Serna.

Their mother was Magdalena Serna, the sister of Dolores Serna who was married to Adolph Buttner.

Magdalena found herself with 3 young children as a single mother, Samuel having removed himself from the family picture. So I guess you'd say, the three children became wards of Adolph & Dolores.

And, when that occurred, it seems that the children assumed the name BUTTNER. Their descendants have remained Buttners for well over 100 years.

209 Refugio and Dolores married on June 18, 1888 in Cochise, Arizona. Cochise is not a city, it's a County.

The marriage date must be a mistake because she was not born until 1899 or 1901; there is a variance on different documents.

211 Rene died right in the middle of COVID. So he had an outdoor, drive by memorial service at Bullion Plaza, Miami, Arizona. A video was made of the memorial and posted on Facebook so those near and far could see the drive by. I watched from my home in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was well attended and lots of cars and a lot of motorcycles which he rode a motorcycle so I'm sure he would have approved.

It was held on a crisp looking Sunday afternoon, January 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

218 SERGEANT ARAGON VIETNAM CASUALTY

The father of five young children, Sgt 1st Class Joseph M. Aragon of Vancouver has been killed in action in Vietnam, the Defense Department reported Monday. He was the 10th person with Clark County ties to die in Vietnam and the third this month.

The 37 year-old soldier, who had been in Vietnam since last November, died of gunshot wounds on patrol, according to his widow, Helen. She said no other details were given. A recent letter from her husband had indicated that he was a platoon sergeant engaged in search and destroy missions.

Mrs. Aragon, who lives at 2213 N.E. Fifty First St. said she was notified Saturday that her husband was killed on April 16. Earlier she had been informed that he was missing in action.

INFANTRYMAN

At the time of his death, the sergeant was a member of Company B, 2nd Battalion (Mechanized), 22nd Infantry, 4th Infantry Division.

Before going to Vietnam, Aragon had been stationed in Germany for two years until last May. He entered the Army in July, 1948, and would have completed 19 years of service this July, becoming eligible for retirement in another year.

The sergeant was born in Litchfield Park, Ariz., March 19, 1930.

In addition to his widow, she is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Price of 4308 N.W. Fifty-first St., Aragon is survived by his three sons, Joseph Jr. 11, Michael, 8, and Patrick 7; and daughters; Frances, 4 and Theresa, 22 months.

Other survivors include his father and step-mother, Mr. & Mrs. Manual Aragon of Phoenix, Ariz.: a sister, Mrs. Ralph Rojas of Phoenix; a half-sister, Elsa Aragon of Phoenix; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Birtriz Aragon of Tucson, Ariz.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Maria Bizzerra of Phoenix.

Mrs. Aragon said the Vancouver Funeral Chapel will be in charge of funeral arrangements when the sergeant's body is returned from Vietnam. Details will be announced later.

225 She married Pascual Noriega July 17, 1880 in San Pedro Apostal, San Pedro de la Cueva, Sonora, Mexico GARCIA, Maria (I_736232061)

226 She was born and died when the family was moving by wagon from Pirtleville, Arizona heading West to California. (Why they were going North, I don't know) They did not make it that far. When they reached Solomonville, Arizona she had died and her mother Margarita was fatally ill.

The oldest daughter Adela took care of her mother and they did not tell her that the baby had died. Finally, they had to tell Margarita. She died shortly after.

Margarita & her baby were laid to rest on top of a hill overlooking the Solomonville fields looking North. There are many bodies buried there with only large rocks covering their graves. If there was ever a headstone, time has taken it's toll. So we don't know exactly where they are buried.

Miguel continued West with his children minus Carlota who was married and living in Bisbee and Adela who stayed in Solomonville and married Juan Figueroa.

Miguel made it as far as Globe, Arizona a booming mining town in 1914 where he stopped and set up a home for his children.

229 The Catholic Church record of her marriage notes her date of birth in 1870.
So that is a 3rd birth date possibility for Eulogia.

I'm sticking with her date of birth on her baptism record.

230 The death certificate shows her name as, "Celia Butner". BUTTNER, Cecilia Robles (I_736232331)

231 The following information is from correspondence Immaculate Conception Church regarding their marriage.

They were married at Immaculate Concepcion Church located in Yuma, Arizona.

Their names were recorded as: Augustin George BUTINER
Dolores CERNA

Their parents were recorded as: Agustin BUTINER & Bertran BUTINER

Jose Maria CERNA and Rafaela AMAVISCA

The letter was signed by Priscilla Arviso, Secretary

NOTED: The spelling of both Agustin & Dolores' last names do not agree with other primary documents. Since Adolph (Agustin) consistently used the last name BUTTNER, I believe this is the correct spelling.

Re: CERNA. Probably a mistake on the part of the person registering their marriage as CERNA would not be spelled with a "C", but rather an "S" in Spanish. Again, human error.

What is interesting is that it seems neither Adolph or Dolores corrected their marriage document. A marriage certificate is considered a primary document used throughout one's life to verify an important legal date, one's marriage date.

It could be that in 1874 in Arizona Territory it was not deemed as important a document as in 2024.

232 The Refugio(last name unknown) referred to his obituary is his third spouse. No children resulted from this union so she is not included in the genealogy.  ROBLES Noriega, Jesus (I352550676587)

233 They did not marry. Carlota had been married twice before to Bartolo Ybarra and Jose Maria Noriega. Divorce papers have not been found for either of the marriages.

Rafael & Carlota's affair began in the latter 1920's. In 1928 Gustavo Robles was born. Carlota called him, "Ernest/Ernie." In 1930 they had a daughter named Candida Gregoria who Carlota called, "Angela". Neither of the children were ever known by their legal birth names. And they did not share the Granado last name legally.

Jesus Gonzales, Rafael's wife did divorce him.
