- OBITUARY
John Michael "Gingo" Velasco, age 40, of Nowata, OK, passed away October, 15, 2006, in Nowata. He was born April 6, 1966 in Phoenix, AZ to Rene and Yolanda Velasco. He spent his childhood in the Globe-Miami area, where he attended Miami High School. He was very active on the football and track teams. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed at Camp Pendelton in Oceanside, California. He was employed as a lineman for a TV cable company.
He loved to hike in the mountains, fish and hunt; anything to be outdoors. He is survived by his wife LuAnn Velasco of Nowata, OK. Step-children: Kristy Jeremy, Justin and Julia Mullis, all of Nowata, OK, Sisters; Veronica Brown of Chandler, AZ Monica Velasco of Casa Grande, AZ, Analinda Velasco of Miami, AZ, Reyna Peery of Tucson, AZ. Parents: Rene and Yolanda Velasco of Miami, AZ, and grandmothers: Henrietta Gomaz and Mitcha Velasco.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 4:00p.m. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel. The family suggests donations be directed to his family in care of: LuAnn Velasco, 330 S. Hickory, Nowata, OK 74048
