Susan Carlota VALERIO
Well, I finally found it to the, "real man's Army". After years at the Pentagon wearing Class A uniforms, fatigues and heavy black boots came as a shock to me. Soon I realized wearing fatigues was the norm for the Army; not shiny, black patent leather loafers and a skirt.
My first assignment in Germany was running the mailroom with another soldier named Kenny. He kind of taught me the ropes and we became good friends. It's here that I learned to drive a stick shift jeep to pick up our Company's mail from the main Depot halfway across the city. I was really lousy driving a stick...used to stall out every so often.
